Environment Canada has ended a severe thunderstorm warning for Toronto and much of the GTA.
The warning was issued shortly after 8 p.m. but ended just before 10 p.m. on Friday.
CityNews meteorologist Natasha Ramsahai said, “Storms will continue tonight and end by about 3 a.m.”
About 10-20 millimetres of rain are expected, she said.
Earlier in the day, Toronto Public Health issued the first heat alert of the summer, with humidex values near 40 on Friday.
The heat alert was cancelled around 8 p.m.
A heat warning from Environment Canada for the GTA has also ended.
Friday was the 2nd hottest day of the year with temperatures measuring 31.5 C at Pearson airport.
