TORONTO, Ont. – With hot and muggy temperatures expected to last all weekend, the Toronto Medical Officer of Health has extended the heat alert for the third straight day.

With Pride in full swing and events like Ribfest, the CHIN Picnic and Digital Dreams all taking place outdoors Saturday, it’s important people stay hydrated and use plenty of sun-tan lotion.

Temperatures are expected to hit at least 30 C Saturday, feeling significantly hotter with the humidity. Those temperatures are expected to remain consistent through Sunday and Monday.

During a heat alert people are advised to check in on friends and family, especially infants and young children, the homeless or marginally housed, the elderly and people with chronic illness.

There are a number of air-conditioned spots available around the city. You can see a full list of locations, which include places like libraries and community centres, here.
